Starting The Photography Process

When Ben of Barrio Chocolate reached out to book me as his product photographer in Greenville, SC, we first discussed all the details to make this session successful and accurately represent his brand.

“The brand is called Barrio Chocolate– it is more of an everyday chocolate brand that is less formal and more fun, and our branding features bright colors and a simple packaging design. Our target market for this brand is Gen Z… for the photo shoot, I’m open to any ideas you have. I’d like to get at least two good photos of each of the five products to use as product images- one of the unopened bar and one of it opened- and I’d also like some good photos of all five bars together.”

Capturing The Product Photos

As a Greenville, South Carolina product photographer, what goes on behind the scenes to create the perfect image can make quite the mess and require a ton of knowledge on lighting and composition. Behind the scenes with Barrio Chocolate looked like a ton of different colored back drops, LOTs of ingredients, and craft sticks to prop up each chocolate bar.
So after setting up the lights to create the perfect vibe for Barrio Chocolate, it was time to play and start placing ingredients perfectly around each bar.
